Emily and Oliver live in an apartment in the city with their parents, but on the weekends they take a train into the country to visit their grandmother Mamma Pajamas. Her real name is Wendy Hannigan, but she likes to be called mama pajamas because she is a grandma and loves pajamas. She really really really loves pajamas. She wears them everywhere to the grocery store to the bank, even to the dentist , then at night she changes into sleeping pajamas for the night. She has a lot of pajamas. Emily and Oliver love visiting Mamma Pajamas because at home their apartment is small and they share a room but not with Mama pajamas! She has a big house and they each have their own bedroom they can decorate anyway they want. Mamma Pajamas doesn’t mind if they’re messy. At home mom and dad like them to stay nice and tidy. Mom is allergic to cats and dad is afraid of dogs, but Mamma Pajamas has a pig name Mr. Darcy that lives inside and a roost of chickens plus a neighbor's dog that comes to visit every day. The children love visiting mammas. Every Friday they take the train away from schedule, structure and the city to breathe fresh air and play.
